| Student Organic Gardening Plot |
Each student in our group will be specializing in growing a few vegetables and herbs. This includes learning about the specific needs of each plant including: The soil conditions, NPK requirements, Sun/shade preferences, Watering Schedule, Drainage requirements, Harvest periods, Spacing, ect. Along side the vegetables, you can see our efforts to incorporate diversity into our plot by planting flowers and herbs that attract beneficial insects to help with pests! Its all about organic and not about synthetics!
| Our Tentative Plan! |
This Link will provide you with a more extensive plan for our garden. We used the Garden Planner located on Mother Earth News. This site is excellent and highly recommended. It includes everything about your region where you are planting. It automatically spaces plants and calculates growing/harvesting periods. Check out our prospective plants!http://gardenplanner.motherearthnews.com/garden-plan.aspx?p=274690
Here is a link to the garden planner so you can start your garden layout!

ReplyDeleteWhat type of carrots are you planting Brian? Longs ones, sweet ones?
Where are you all getting your seeds?
If I may make a suggestion for Cheryl? Plant your mints inside a container and then into the ground. They spread by underground runners which love the loose garden soil too much. Mints are extremely invasive. That said, I love my chocolate mint. If you want some, Brian can bring you some.
Knew about the mint. Learned the hard way! LOL Would love some chocolate mint. Seeds are from Territorial. I am planting some carrots in my garden at home, but not sure what is being planted in our gardens. Will be building the strawberry tower and bringing it in this weekend. Stop by and see our progress when you can.
DeleteBrian told me you were his mom. Got to tell you - what a great kid you have. Very polite and works hard. You must be very proud of him. His attitude and work ethics speak highly of you and what a great job you have done as a mom.
